Procurement – The NEC
For the past two decades, the suite of NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contracts has enjoyed increasing usage within the UK construction industry and globally. It has been endorsed by various professional bodies and by the Government on many construction projects including the 2012 Olympic Games and T5.
The NEC3 promotes partnering, collaborative approach and aims to deliver projects on time and within budget. It aims for good management of the relationships between contractors and employers (contractors and sub-contractors) for a wide range of engineering work.
Very often, however, parties face highly complex and technically challenging projects which require specialist legal experts to advise on the issues and risks arising from the NEC ECC contracts.
Our NEC experience includes:
- Training employers, contractors and sub-contractors on the usage of NEC
- Advise on risk allocation
- Negotiating and drafting bespoke and standard form of NEC3 contracts in the procurement of civil engineering projects
- Project Management
- Dispute avoidance
- Dispute resolution including Adjudicating under the NEC
- Appointments as Adjudicators to deal with disputes arising under the NEC contracts
